''The two standouts of the collection followed rather disparate aesthetic impulses. Anna Saunders used a lovely, clear line that reminded me a bit of Anders Nilsen’s Big Questions work, and her entries acted as a sort of interstitial framework that bound the anthology together. Her “Through The Square Window” mini was a heartbreaking account of living through madness, while “Insomnia” was a clever strip about animals counting themselves to go to sleep. “Patterns of Boom and Bust” was a vibrantly kinetic strip that’s literally about staying in motion, while her Sunday comics entry, “The Daily Grind”, was a cleverly-designed strip about walking but always staying in place. This is an artist whose work I wanted to see more of right away.''

Josie Long hosts this night of alternative comedy in Camden. I've been Live Drawing since January, reacting on paper to what's going on on stage. It's good to have an audience and to work in sync with people so lively, and thinking on the spot is good for my Artwork.

Live Drawing, Solipsistic Pop Launch, ICA

'Solipsistic Pop' is a bi-annual Anthology of Comics and Illustrations which features my work.

Volume one was launched at the ICA in November 2009 and I did some 'Live Drawing', filmed and projected onto a big screen, as part of the night's events. It was fantastic to be drawing live and to be part of the energy exchange. I'm going to make sure I do it again.

Live Drawing, Notting Hill Arts Club

As part of an afternoon of Art and Films, I did some Live Drawing to accompany Horror Shorts which were played (c/o electric Sheep Magazine).

My drawings were about 200x100cm. It felt good to be picking up a pace while the films gathered momentum. Brilliant music made it beautifully atmospheric.

No films of me doing it, but here are sections of the large picture I drew.

Live Drawing at the ICA

I was commissioned to draw the crowd at the ICA as part of an evening of 'Live Art' and music.

Many of the people I drew took the drawings I did home with them, which was part of the idea.

African Inspired Pattern Making Workshop, the British Museum

I wrote and lead this workshop as part of the museum's 'West African Wonders' event in June Half Term. I made templates for children to draw around to make their own African inspired pattern, which we then helped them make into bags. Some took theirs home, some left them for the exhibition board. I think everyone had a good time.

Anna Saunders worked for me on Britain’s Next Top Model season 5.

Her work was beautiful and stylish. She completely took on board the brief and brought her own creativity to the project. She is a pleasure to work with and a wonderful creative talent, I cannot recommend her highly enough and look forward to working with her again soon.

Frieze Making Workshop, The British Museum.

This was a late night workshop for children and parents staying the night in the museum. It ran from 7pm to midnight and four sets of children contributed to a giant frieze which I invented to fit the Theme of the Olympia. It was great fun and we exhibited the results in the Great Court for everyone to see the next morning.

These were a series of street drawings I drew on pavements, c/o 'Foundation 33' for Channel 4. I drew every weekday for 2 weeks, and the drawings were approximately 2m square.

I like what can be done with paper: how it moves, how it can be frozen, held and manipulated to do more than it would in 2D form.

This piece is a paper cutting made with the idea of the rings on the trunk of a tree which you can see when it's cut down.

I played with the idea that when a person dies, they have similar rings or lines inside which have built up over time, only revealed after their death.
